[ARCHIVED] 4th Annual Chino Valley Grinder

The Chino Grinder is a 108 Mile Gravel Ultra Endurance Cycling Event!  This event is on Saturday, May 6th starting at the Chino Valley Community Center, E Perkinsville Rd and N Road 1 East.


The course is a 108 mile-long out and back from Chino Valley, Arizona to Williams, Arizona and back through the upper Verde Watershed of the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests. There is approximately a 60/40 split between gravel and paved roads. Expect little to no motor vehicle traffic. Conditions of the gravel roads can vary from hard-pack, to rutted or washboard depending on the last time the roads were graded. Elevations along the course vary from 4000 ft to 7000 ft. At the lowest point of the course average high temps are in the mid 70's for this time of the year.


 108 MILE COURSE:


Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley 1 mile east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and Road 1. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 30 miles. Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 becomes Coconino County Road 73, proceed 20 miles to the turnaround at the Elk Ridge Ski 2.5 miles south of Williams. Return to Chino following the same route.


 54 MILE COURSE:


Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley 1 mile east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and Road 1. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 30 miles. Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 becomes Coconino County Road 73, proceed 20 miles to the turnaround at the Elk Ridge Ski 2.5 miles south of Williams. (must arrange for ride back to start).


 44 MILE COURSE:


Start from Community Center Park, Chino Valley 1 mile east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and Road 1. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 22 miles. Turnaround is at Aid Station 1


 Two Person Relay:


 Full 108 mile course with rider exchange at the Elk Ridge Ski Area (Williams, AZ).
