EMERGENCY ROAD REPAIRS will begin on Tuesday, April 2nd on Reed Road, W 4 North, W 5 North, and East Road 1 North at Cactus Wren. At their March 26th meeting, Town Council approved a contract for $407,240.12 in emergency road repairs to improve safety and travelability in the areas of highest travel and concern.
This year’s winter and springs storms created a large “crop” of pothole negatively impacting our already deteriorating roadways. Street Crews are doing their best, but simply can’t keep up. (Thank you crews for diligent efforts in trying!) The approved work will use milling machines and pavers. This method of repair is expected to last several years until permanent surface replacement can occur.
It would cost about $90 million to complete all necessary roadway resurfacing and repairs. There is a $40 million backlog in projects needed now. Roadway improvement is a Council priority with limited available budget resources and town staff continue to seek outside funding. Travel will be impacted during repairs.
We will post details of those lane closures and/or details as the work progresses. Be cautious and patient we are working to improve your overall quality of life and understand the importance of safe and travelable roadways.
